A teaser video for a documentary featuring M.I.A. was leaked by its director over the weekend, prompting the rapper’s label Roc Nation to pull it from YouTube and resulting in Steve Loveridge’s resignation from the project.

Initially the film was supposed to coincide with the release of M.I.A.’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Matangi,” last year, but both projects have been postponed several times. Shortly following the leak, posted by Loveridge on his personal Tumblr account, Roc Nation wrote to him that the teaser “screws with everything we’ve been working on setting up Matangi,” to which Loveridge responded “I really couldn’t give a flying fuck. Count me out. Would rather die than work on this… nothing personal”.

On Sunday M.I.A. tweeted “im gonna need @kickstarter and my fans to help make this exist , ive been black listed through normal channels !!!!!!!”, showing the singer’s own ambivalence about her label’s ability to get the film out any time soon. Currently fans can find the video on Vimeo.

The teaser features archival footage of Kanye West, Diplo, Spike Jonze and Interscope Record’s Jimmy Iovine.
