In a prime example of life coming full circle, Common stopped by the Staple showroom to chat with jeffstaple, fifteen years after jeff had designed the artwork for his single on Rawkus Records titled “One-Nine-Nine-Nine.” In this latest episode of “1-2-1 w/jeffstaple,” the two hip hop veterans – from the perspectives of the music and design worlds – reminisce about old records and new projects, social responsibility and the creative process. The Chicago native speaks candidly about the inspiration behind his music and even recites a few bars. Common’s 10th album Nobody’s Smiling, released July 22, is a reunion with No I.D. as Executive Producer and features guest artists Vince Staples, Big Sean and Jhene Aiko.
